Bell: Skt. ghaṇṭa; Tib. དྲིལ་བུ་ dril-bu, is an important ritual implement in Vajrayana practices. The bell is always accompanied by a vajra (dorje) and symbolizes the wisdom of emptiness (feminine aspect) while the vajra symbolizes compassion and skillful means (masculine aspect). The number of spokes of the vajra and bell set, commonly five or nine, should be identical in style and number.
