prayer wheel: Tib. མ་ནི་འཁོར་ལོ་ ma-ni khor-lo, is an ornate cylinder filled with mantra designed to rotate clockwise. The Buddha taught that the rotation of mantra in a prayer wheel has the same benefit as recitation. Some prayer wheels fill entire rooms, however, most often they are small enough to fit on a table or mounted on top of a handle to be spun by hand. Prayer wheels are widely used by practitioners in Tibet and India.
